AUTOMOTIVE: muffler production

The MEGACUT 5A is an customized MEGACUT LASER machine for welding 3-D shapes, car mufflers in this case. The mufflers are fabricated in 3 stages (left picture). For each stage a special clamping fixture is developped (see picture 3). Each clamping fixture can hold one or two parts. The clamping fixture on the right picture holds two. The picture in the middle is a detail of the clamping fixture on the right picture. Once a piece is welded together, the operator clamps the welded piece together with the new parts in the next clamping bench. In the mean time the laser welds the parts in another clamping bench.
